Jackie Thomas | Commissioner Noack Montgomery County Precinct 3

Just years after graduating from Conroe High School, Jackie Thomas found his lifelong career working for Montgomery County Precinct 3. Now nearly 31 years since he was first on-boarded in 1986, Thomas says not even he knew this would be the career path for the rest of his life.

Thomas started off his career with Precinct 3 making $4.50 an hour working on patching and repaving asphalt in county right-of-ways. Since then. the 60-year-old has seen his hard work, dedication and loyalty pay off. 14 years in, Thomas was promoted to one of the 3 supervisor positions under the previous Commissioner.

His favorite memory working for Precinct 3 is when Commissioner Noack came in and installed a functional hierarchy for the outside crews. He implemented superintendent and foreman positions, which according to Thomas, greatly increased the productivity of their workflow.

“I’m pretty sure he feels that the guys here can represent him well with good work,” Thomas said. “He has made the guys here feel like they are 100 percent apart of the county.”

Thomas’ responsibilities have reached even greater heights with the onset of the Rayford Road Widening project. He is now officially the Superintendent/Inspector for the Rayford Road Project. But to the Montgomery County “lifer,” he knows he will be just fine in his new position and is thankful for Commissioner Noack’s trust in him.

“He’s got faith in what I can do, and that’s what I appreciate.”
