FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Since the start of spring, the Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office has tested mosquitos for West Nile Virus. On Monday June 9th, 2014 we received our first positive result from Texas Department of State Health Services for the West Nile Virus in South County. Treatment has begun and surveillance will continue in the affected areas. Treatment will include:
• Spraying of storm drains, catch basins and drive way culverts during the day
• Spraying roads and county right of ways during nighttime hours
• Treatment of standing water
Our office will continue to follow protocol to ensure that the protection of the public remains our first priority. To help combat mosquitoes with our recent rain and warm temperatures, we ask residents to do the following and think WET:
• Wear repellent
• Eliminate standing water
• Treat water that you can’t eliminate
